In Memory of Gordon E. Peterson

October 7, 1949 - February 9, 2025

Gordon Eugene Peterson, age 75, of Stacy, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home in his sleep, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Gordon was born in Osceola, Wisconsin on October 7, 1949. He moved to Stacy, Minnesota as a child. He attended Stacy School and graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 1967. Shortly after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving from March 17, 1969, to December 24, 1970. After his service, he studied surveying at Dunwoody Institute and pursued that career in Minnesota before moving to Alaska with Marilyn to continue his work. On their way home from Alaska, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Ann (Koecher) on September 11, 1978, in Reno, Nevada. They built their home in Stacy, where they raised their family and lived for the next 46 years. In October of 1979, a work accident left him paralyzed. Undeterred, he then turned his love for farming into a full-time occupation. In 2008, Gordon transformed five acres of his farmland into a Tesoro gas station he owned and operated alongside his wife and kids until 2022.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Sis (Vernon and Helen) Peterson; his older sister Barbara Jean; his uncle and aunt, Loren and Marlene Peterson; and his grandmother, Helga.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Marilyn; his four children and ten grandchildren. Mindi (Josh) Kopp: Chloe, Paris, and Harper; Gina (Brandon) Wholecheese: Fiona and Violet; Michael (Ashley) Peterson: Sawyer, Landon, and Willow; and Sheena (Justin) Piel: Max and Lila. He is also survived by his sisters Sandy Peterson and Patty (Stan) Berry; cousins Kelly (Roy) Ramberg and Greg (Teresa) Grady; and many extended family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Lent Town Hall, Stacy, Minnesota from 12:00-3:00 p.m. A short prayer will commence at 12:30, followed by a blessing of the food.
