In Memory of Gloria S. Kahl


June 19, 1941 - May 9, 2023

Gloria Sonja Kahl, age 81, passed away Tuesday, May 9th at Monroe Manor in Barron.

Gloria was born on June 19, 1941 to Bennie and Amanda (Anderson) Moen in the Township of Prairie Farm.

Gloria attended Prairie Farm High School and graduated in 1959. She lived in the Township of Prairie Farm her whole life with the exception of three years when attending UW-Stout.

Gloria married Gary Kahl on December 30, 1967 at the United Lutheran Church in Arland. They were married for over 55 years and were blessed with four sons. She moved to the Kahl family farm in 1967, lived there for over 42 years and cared for the young stock on the farm for over twenty years. Gary and Gloria moved to a neighboring farm in 2009.

Gloria joined the United Methodist Church in Prairie Farm shortly after marrying Gary. She was active in the Methodist Church serving as secretary for over 23 years.  Gloria was also an active member of the United Methodist Women (UMW).

Gloria got a lot of joy out of spending time with her granddaughters. She had a big garden most of her life. There was always enough in the garden for family, friends, and neighbors. Gloria was also active in the community. She coordinated the bloodmobile for the Red Cross and organized the parade for Prairie Farm Dairy Days. She also worked at the Prairie Farm Post Office for many years, including Saturday mornings.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Gary; three sons, Brian of Rice Lake, Mark of Rice Lake and Chuck (Greta) of Ridgeland; daughter-in-law, Bridgette Kahl of Prairie Farm; five granddaughters, Lauren, Jada, Taylor, Kylie, and Chloe; as well as nieces and nephews.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Amanda Moen; son, Chris; brother, Marvin Moen; sister, Lorraine Seeger; along with aunts, uncles, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service for Gloria will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Prairie Farm. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning. Burial will follow the service at Vanceburg Cemetery in the Town of Sheridan.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
