Gladys Marie Knoop, 92, of Shell Lake passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Shell Lake Healthcare. She was born September 24, 1931 in Spooner, WI to Albert and Bertha (Mogensen) Stellrecht.

She was married in the Town of Rusk, in Burnett County WI on April 8, 1953 to Marvin Knoop, who preceded her in death on July 15, 2018. They enjoyed many, many happy years together.

Gladys led and enjoyed a simple life. She loved sewing, quilting, and weaving rugs. She was a true nurturer - whether that be caring for her plants in the garden, tending to life at the farm, or watching over her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as the 31 foster children to whom she opened her home.

Her quiet and caring demeanor will be greatly missed.

She is survived by four children, Kathy (Jerry) Butenhoff, Karen (Douglas) Vanderhoof, Steve (Jodie) Knoop and Mark (Noel) Knoop, all of Shell Lake; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; siblings, Bernice Stock, Frances (Eugene) Ogren and Lloyd (Frieda) Stellrecht; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; and parents, Albert and Bertha Stellrecht.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 3rd at Lakeview Methodist Church of HerteI with Pastor Ferdinand Serra officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery - Hertel. Pallbearers are Mike Butenhoff, Kyle Vanderhoof, Garrett Knoop, Cody Knoop, and Drew Knoop.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church.
