May 6, 1927 - April 27, 2025

Gilda J. Sura, age 97, of Reeve, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Golden Age Manor in Amery, Wisconsin after suffering from dementia/Alzheimer's disease for over 10 years.

Gilda Joan Bjurstrom was born May 6, 1927 in Joel, Wisconsin to Harold and Mabel (Palmberg) Bjurstrom. She was united in marriage to Theodore J. Sura on May 15, 1947 at Range Lutheran church, and had 4 children: Sheilah, Bruce, Penny and Tami. Gilda worked for AT&T prior to marriage. Besides being a “household engineer” and helping put 3 daughters through college, Gilda was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Clayton, WI. She was involved in her Clayton Class of 1945 reunions, 4-H and a member of Homemakers Group. With her husband she traveled all 50 U.S. States, Mexico, Canada and Europe. They were classic ‘snowbirds’ and call Arizona home during the winter months for over 20 years. Gilda was a delightful entertainer playing in accordion bands, singing in a park chorus and playing cards with friends & family. She enjoyed camping, fishing, biking and music. Gilda was a devoted grandmother and will famously be remembered for her warm smile and hugs, smorgasbords with fresh buns, and ice cream buckets of cookies. Gilda’s welcome let you know she was always ready for a party.

Survivors include her children, Sheilah (Bill) Tietje of San Luis Obispo, CA and Tami Loret of Oregon, WI; son-in-law Theodore Majeske of Balsam Lake, WI; 7 grandchildren, including: Chalon (Tylia) Tietje, Shakira (Nick) Tietje, Randy Majeske, Adam (Nicole) Majeske, Marion (Ryan) Hinnenkamp, Christopher Loret, and Joshua Loret; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Gilda was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore J. Sura on November 19, 2007; parents; son, Bruce L. Sura; daughter, Penny J. Majeske; sister, Grayce L. Anderholm; and son-in-law Howard Loret.

There will be a private family Christian service, with Rev. Margaret Grant officiating. Interment will be at the Elim Cemetery in Range, Wisconsin.
