In Memory of Gerald C. Hibbard


January 28, 1932 - July 18, 2024

The Reverend Gerald Cletus Hibbard, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother & minister to many, died Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Vista Prairie at Brentwood Assisted Living Facility in Rice Lake Wisconsin at the age of 92. Jerry was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 28, 1932 to Donald Theodore Hibbard & Maria Louise Elmquist. He graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN & Northwestern Theological Seminary in Minneapolis, MN. On May 20, 1958, he was ordained into the ministry in Council Bluffs, Iowa & went on to serve churches at St Paul Lutheran of Postville, Iowa, St. Mark’s Lutheran of Johnston Iowa, Redeemer Lutheran of Milwaukee, WI & Whitnall Park Lutheran of Hales Corners, WI. After retirement in 1996, armed with the motto, “Have Bible Will Travel,” he continued to serve churches around Wisconsin including three calls at Stanfold Lutheran of Rice Lake, WI.

Jerry is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Shirley (nee Rapley), son, Stephen (Suzanne) Hibbard, daughter, Christa (John) Scott, granddaughters: Sarah (Brendan) Morin, Angela (Derek) Scott-Giesel & Jennifer (Justin) Findley, grandsons: Matthew (Anna) Hibbard, David (Megan) Scott & Joshua Hibbard. He is further survived by 9 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends including his sister, Donna Miller of Sioux Falls, SD .

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 at Stanfold Lutheran Church, rural Rice Lake with Rev. John Bergson officiating & interment will follow the luncheon at Faaberg Cemetery in Cameron. A visitation will be held from 11a.m.-1p.m. at the church. Please consider a memorial to the Pregnancy Help Center or Stanfold Lutheran Church in his name. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron & Dallas.
