In Memory of Genevieve L. Ganske
Genevieve “Jenny” Lillian Ganske, 91, of Chetek passed away Wednesday, August 30th, 2023, at Meadowbrook Senior Living in Chetek. Jenny had a wonderful life and many quality years, still living in her home up until a month before her passing.
Jenny was born June 29, 1932, to Elmer and Annie (Leverson) Robinson in Rusk County, Wisconsin, where she grew up on a farm with her parents and 11 siblings. Jenny graduated from Chetek High School and married her high school sweetheart Gerald “Jerry” Ganske on September 28, 1951, at Chetek Lutheran Church. Jenny enjoyed her career as a medical assistant for over 40 years at the Chetek medical clinic, caring for members of her community.
Jenny was an incredible woman, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was loved dearly by all who knew her. Jenny’s one-of-a-kind smile, her eternal optimism, clever sense of humor, extraordinary patience, and heart of gold were her defining traits. She was an active member of the Chetek Lutheran Church and choir, volunteering her time to many church and community organizations over the years. Jenny enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball. She looked forward to playing cards and loved singing with her Robinson sisters over the years. Jenny was an amazing cook often making her delicious homemade buns, gingersnap cookies, and banana cream pies for family gatherings. She could easily solve Wheel of Fortune puzzles in record time and had a knack for writing catchy, little poems with the gifts she gave at Christmas. More than anything, Jenny loved spending time with her family and cherished every moment with her children and grandchildren through the years.
Jenny is survived by her daughter, Lorrie (Dale) Robarge of Chetek; son, Jerry (Susan) Ganske of Chetek; five grandchildren-Sarah, Ryan, Jeremiah, Rachel and Adam; twelve great-grandchildren- Giuliana, Viviana, Milana, Abigail, Luke, Shannon, Kate, Arabelle, Sawyer, Rhynlie, Rhyklin, and Noah; her 4 sisters- Marlyce, Donna, Margaret (Lance), and Charlotte (Gary); brother Buddy (Marlys); sister-in-law Doris; and several nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Annie Robinson; husband Jerry; three sisters- Ethel, Dorothy, and Violet; and three brothers-Stewart, Malvin, and Marvin.
Jenny’s funeral service will be Thursday, September 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Chetek Lutheran Church with Pastor Guy Redfield officiating. Visitation will also be Thursday, September 7th, at the church, starting at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
