Gene Jacob Larson, age 66 of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Gene was born February 6, 1957 to Gerald Sr. and Vera (Anderson) Larson.

He kept busy with all his siblings as a child. He graduated high school. On September 26, 2009, he married Janelle Erickson in Cumberland. Gene worked many years for Antoine Olson and Ron and Trish Olson milking cows.

Gene was known for being a handyman for many different people. Many could count on Gene if they needed something fixed or worked on. He was a strong, caring, compassionate man who loved his family very much. His boys were his whole life.

Gene is survived by his wife, Janelle of Cumberland; his 3 boys, Drew Rhin, Nic and Tyler Larson, all of Cumberland; brothers, Dan (Chris) Larson of Wakonda, SD, Paul (Diana) Larson, Joe (Linda) Larson, both of Cumberland, Jim Larson, Gerald Jr (Sue) Larson, both of Rice Lake; sisters, Judy (Fred) Boettcher of Rice Lake, Sandie (Earl) Merry of Cumberland and Lois Vance Benson of Alaska; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Roger Erickson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
