Gary LeRoy Jenkins, 73, of Cumberland moved to his Heavenly home, surrounded by his loving family, on May 12, 2024. He was born in Cumberland, on March 19, 1951 to Joe Jenkins and Genevieve (Boucher) Jenkins.

After high school, Gary enlisted in the Army and was a decorated Viet Nam Veteran.

Gary was united in marriage to Yvonne West, in Cumberland, on May 12, 1971. Gary and Yvonne made their home in Cumberland, where they raised their sons, Adam and Phillip.

He retired from 3M in 2007.

Gary was an excellent woodworker, carpenter and cabinetmaker. He also loved working on cars. He taught his boys many valuable skills. He looked forward to springtime, for planting a garden and lots of flowers.

He also enjoyed his time with his sweet Shih Tzus, Pokey and Rosie.

Gary is survived by his wife, Yvonne; two sons, Adam (Phyllis) Jenkins and Phillip (Jamie) Jenkins; 4 grandchildren: Alana & Adessa (and their Mother Leila), Sydney, and Aurora; one brother, Richard Hecht, many nieces and nephews.

We will miss him so much and cherish our precious memories with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Genevieve; sisters, Phyllis Hammang, Caroline Cunningham, Cheryl Dahl; and brothers, Don Hecht, David Jenkins and Bob Jenkins.

A Celebration of Life or private service will be held at a later date.
