Gary James Knight was born in Cumberland Hospital on December 2nd, 1940.  He passed away at his home in St. Paul, MN on September 1st, 2020.  He was in the care of his friend, William Scott Hudson and St. Paul Health Partners Hospice Care.  He passed away at his home after 6 days in his home. 

Gary grew up in Clam Falls, WI.  He liked to go squirrel and deer hunting. 

He went to Clam Falls grade school all 8 grades.  He then attended Frederic High School and graduated in 1960.  He then worked in the Frederic area for a couple of years.  He moved to the St. Paul, MN area and went to work at the St. Paul Dispatch newspaper.  After a few years he went to work for Unisys com. until he retired at the age of 62. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ivan Knight and Adeline (Weaver) Knight; a baby sister, Sheri Rae; and a nephew, Ronald Nelson.   

He is survived by: 

Sister:  Retta (Harold) Nelson 

Nephews: 

Allen (Jennifer) Nelson and 5 children:  Corbin (Brie) Paulson, Heather (friend Jason) and daughter Addie, Isabella, Spenser, Sam

Norman (Hiedi)

Richard and his 3 children:  Marrisa (Zach), Melana and her son Broden, Brenton

Dennis (Paula) and 5 children, Devin (Alyssa) and their 3 children:  Haley, Sophia, Caspian, Ashley (Philipp) and son Parker, Coleman (Ayamani), Brook, Claire

Ron’s wife:  Dawn Nelson

Gary was a member of the downtown St. Paul AA Club for over 40 years.  He had many friends at the club.  He was also on a board of Al-Anon and helped many friends there.  This is where he met William Hudson.  Gary helped William and in return William helped Gary in his final days.  A true friend.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Frederic, WI on Tuesday, September 8th at 11:00 a.m.
