In Memory of Frederic Weber
Frederic William Weber died May 1, 2021 in Naples, Florida.
Fred was the adoring husband and best friend of Nancy Weber; devoted father/stepfather to Peter Weber, Anna Sedelmaier (Adam), Scott Johanns (Jane), Craig Johanns (Mary), Christopher Johanns (Sarah), and Susan Goedderz (Scott); proud grandfather to Cassandra, Rachel, Zachary, Luke, Sam, Olivia, Max, Katarina, Michael, Jack, Katie, Gavin, and Charlie; brother to George Weber (Nancy); uncle to Jessica and Christian, and friend to many. Preceded in death by parents Dr. Harry Weber and Kathleen Thornton, and brother Harry Weber.
Born March 23, 1939, in Rochester, Minnesota, Fred was the middle child of three boys, which certainly had no influence on his personality whatsoever. Fred attended high school at St. John’s Preparatory School in Collegeville, Minnesota. He then received his undergraduate degree in 1962 from the University of Notre Dame with a major in Great Books of Western Civilization, which likely led to his proclivity to passionately recite long passages which may or may not have been relevant to the current conversation. Fred was a proud bass-baritone in the Notre Dame Glee Club and continued singing for decades in various barbershop quartets throughout Wisconsin. After graduation from Notre Dame, Fred entered the U.S. Navy in 1962 as a flight student; then served in Japan on the staff of Commander Fleet Air, Western Pacific. He was then deployed to Vietnam as a Naval Intelligence Officer. After completion of active duty, Fred returned to law school at Notre Dame, graduating in 1972. He was an associate with the Chicago law firm of Lord, Bissell & Brook in their Aviation Department until he became a partner in 1980 and remained with the firm until his retirement in 2000. Upon retirement, Fred and Nancy moved to Webster, Wisconsin where they fully embraced “Lake Life” and all the beauty, fun, and serenity that came with it. Fred was a brilliant thinker, beautiful singer, respected attorney, accomplished pilot, average euchre player, and a loyal, kind, and loving family man who will be missed by all that knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00 PM (visitation 12-1PM) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, WI. His final resting place will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
