In Memory of Fred M. Gallatin


June 27, 1950 - March 25, 2025

Fred Melchior Gallatin, age 74, of Barron, WI, died Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at his daughters home in Rice Lake, WI.

He was born on July 27, 1950 in Rice Lake to Fred and Mariam (Hamilton) Gallatin. He graduated from Cameron High School in 1968. Fred worked for Holsum Bakery in Rice Lake and then was a line supervisor for Jennie O Turkey Store in Barron, WI. You would see Fred taking long walks everyday around town. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting, antiquing, and taking his annual trips to Canada. Fred was always learning and enjoyed History. Fred was a licensed Ginseng farmer with his brother-in-law, Kenny Severson. He loved being with his children and his grandchildren. His motto was “You reap what you sew.”

He is survived by his 4 children, Stacey Gallatin, Stephanie (Carey) Skoglund, Sara (Rene) Jimenez and Fred (Janelle) Gallatin; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marilyn Gulickson and Peggy (Kenny) Severson; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mariam Gallatin; and a brother, Victor (Ginny) Gulickson.

Funeral Services will be held at 1PM Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Canton United Methodist Church in Canton, WI, Rev. Jess De Los Santos officiating, with interment in the Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Friday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday. In his memory please plant a tree or give to your local charity.
