In Memory of Frank Burhite
Frank Burhite Age 89, passed away January 11, 2023 at Dove Healthcare in Rice Lake, WI.
He was born August 1, 1933 to William and Vinnie (Schenk) Burhite.
Frank joined the US Air Force and was sent to California for 4 years. He enjoyed his time there but was glad to get back to Wisconsin where he could fish and hunt. Once he was back in Wisconsin, he worked for Walter Brothers in Radisson for many years. After his mother’s passing, he lived on the farm at Elsie Zesiger’s. He worked at Walter Brothers during the day and helped with farm chores in the evening. On May 31, 1969 Frank married Vera Burhite. He had moved to Birchwood and was employed by Birchwood Lumber and Veneer as a truck driver hauling their products to places like Mellon, Abbotsford, Green Bay, etc. He enjoyed his trucking job because he would eat his lunches on the road, he knew where the best truck stops were. Frank loved fishing and usually could be found on Red Cedar Lake as well as Big Birch, Little Birch and Chetac. He looked forward to hunting season every fall, I’m not sure if he really hunted or just went out to eat the half bag of candy bars. One of Frank’s summertime favorites was camping with the travel trailer to Washburn, Exeland and Hayward, WI. Oftentimes he and Vera were accompanied by Aaron and Glenda Zesiger or Carlyn and Randy Wessman. He loved the campfires, extra treats and scenic views especially at Washburn Memorial Park overlooking Lake Superior. After Vera was moved to Dove Healthcare in Rice Lake, Frank was moved there as well. Vera passed a few weeks after the move. Both of them received great care, medical attention and meals they loved. Frank is the last member of his immediate family to pass.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Vinnie; sisters, Hazel, Ruth and Della; and brothers, Bob and Ed. He is survived by Pete Weatherhead of Exeland, WI, Denis Weatherhead of Exeland, WI, Cookie/Ruth (Harry) Moberg of Andover, MN and granddaughter, Lori (Toffee) Tshosa; and great grandsons, Talen and Hudson
We would like to extend a special thanks to Glenda Zesiger and Carlyn Wessman for the many extra hours they put in to assist Frank as well as Vera.
We would like to thank Dove Healthcare of Rice Lake for the superb care he received while there along with Marshfield Hospice of Rice Lake for all of the services they provided.
A spring/summer celebration of life will be held at a future date. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is assisting the family with arrangements.
