In Memory of Florence Christiansen

June 11, 1928 - December 19, 2021

Florence was born on June 11, 1928 to William and Emma (Moerbe) Nielsen in Aleman, Texas.

She was baptized into the Christian faith six days later. She confirmed her Christian faith on March 29, 1942. Florence joined her Lord in heaven on December 19, 2021 in McMurray, PA.

Florence grew up in a Christian home in a strong German Lutheran community. She loved music and as an adult used her musical talent to serve the Lord and His Church. In addition to playing the piano and organ, she directed choirs for children and adults.

Prior to her marriage, Florence taught at Trinity Lutheran School in Jefferson City, MO. She was married to Donald on July 23, 1950 and they were married for 60 years. Donald was a Lutheran pastor and Florence supported his ministry and used her gifts to serve congregations in Nebraska, Illinois and Grace Lutheran (Pagedale) and Holy Cross in O'Fallon, MO. In addition to serving in many roles, she valued the study of Scripture and the singing of hymns.

The family would like to thank the BRiTE Wellness team for enriching Florence’s life and for the compassionate end-of-life care provided by the Family Hospice West Team.

Donald preceded her in death in 2010. Florence is survived by her children, Joan (Larry) Krueger, Neal (Anne) and Joel (Mary), grandchildren Emily, Sarah, Eric, Elizabeth, Rachel and Andrew, six great grandchildren, and brothers, Bill and George.

Interment will be 11AM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in Volga Cemetery, Amery, WI.

A memorial service will be held on January 8th 11 am at The Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens, 8749 Watson Rd, Webster Groves, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am.
