In Memory of Eva L. “Evie” Porter
Eva Lee “Evie” Porter passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday morning, February 11, 2025 at the age of 87.
She lovingly made it into heaven meeting those already with Jesus, in open endless fields, ready for the mowing!
She was preceded in death, or the life after this, by her parents Verla Gillespie and Oliver Sims, her husband Laurie, her son-in-law Jim (Randy), Vesta and Hershel Perrin, and many loving family members and treasured friends. Evie will be waiting to greet those who are yet to join in heaven including:
Lyman Porter, children and grandchildren;
-Mia (Kenny) and their children Taylor, Karly, Tyler, Teela and Skyla
-L.J. and his daughter Teagan
-Kassy (Camden) and their children Lucas, Kolby, Wyatt and Weston
Jack Porter (Durell Olson), children and grandchildren;
-Samantha (Jeff) and their children Baylee and Holden
-Hillary (Casey) and their children Devin and Aydin
-Ryanne (Sam) and their daughter Bronwyn
-Tyler (Rachel) and their daughters Tabitha and Delilah
Randy Porter
Her brother David (Peggy)
Sister-in-law Faye (Brad), and many numerous other family and friends.
Evie spent her life always on the move, whether it was running machinery on the farm, playing cards with the girls, mowing her grass, or cooking anywhere for anyone, all was done with love at the forefront.
Over the years, she traveled to many wonderful places leaving her mark wherever she went. From heading across the world to New Zealand, Australia, the Bahamas and Mexico, to across the country into numerous states for fun trips with friends, one of her highlight travel events was heading to California for the Rosebowl where she cheered on the Badgers. During her travels, more often than not, she always headed home with some new bling and wonderful memories made, especially in Vegas.
Evie was an active volunteer within the community at places including Ruby’s Pantry, cooking at the Amery Senior Center, and bartending at the Amery Gun Club.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren aka the “sugar sacks.” From teaching them about cooking her famous brownies, learning about birds, or reminiscing about stories and history from the past, she was always a positive presence with an abundance of knowledge.
To say she will be missed beyond measure, will always be an understatement. She meant the world to many people, and her memory will live on with those of us left to remember her.
Please join us for Evie’s celebration of life service at the Amery Congregational Church, on Saturday March 1, 2025 at 2:00pm, to meet with the family, service at 3:00pm, and luncheon to follow.
To honor Evie and her love for sparkles and sports, feel free to come in your bling, and best Packer or Badger gear.
