Eugene Marvin Thompson, age 82, of Cameron, WI passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024 at Barron Care & Rehabilitation. He was born June 19, 1942 to Marvin & Florence (Erickson) Thompson at Shell Lake, WI and was raised and attended school at Cameron where he graduated from Cameron High School. On October 17, 1962, he was married to Janice Holmstrom at Barron. Gene was known for his love of the great outdoors and his dedication of many years raising turkeys, together with his wife, Janice. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Gene’s memory will live on through the love and joy he shared with those around him.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Shari Scribner, great grandson: Reid Fischer and his sister: Judy Witkowski. He is survived by his devoted wife: Janice, daughter: Sheila (Craig) Hunt, son: Daniel (Jane) Thompson, his beloved grandchildren: Renee (Jake) Kunkel, Joel (Lauren) Hunt, Roanna (Joshua) Olson and Joshua (Laura) Fischer, 16 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy, brothers: Larry (Lois) and Tom (Terri) Thompson, sister: Peggy (Don) Paulus, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Gene’s life will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home, 400 North 1st Street, Cameron, WI. Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. with a Memorial Service beginning at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Timothy Jerry officiating. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron & Dallas.
