Esther Frances Strickland, 97, of Cumberland died, November 22, 2021, at her grandson’s home. She was born October 16, 1924, in Cumberland, WI to Henry and Lucy (Cotone) Ranallo.

She was married in St. Mary Rectory in Cumberland on February 15, 1947, to DuWayne Strickland who preceded her in death on October 20, 1990.

Esther was active at St. Anthony Catholic Church for most of her life and was a member of the Women Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, embroidery, playing the organ, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her sense of humor will be missed.

During the final year of her life, Esther had the honor of living with her grandson Seth, his wife Erika, and their four sons. She had a wonderful last year filled with joy, giggles, and smiles. Esther also received special care from Ruth Holmes.

She is survived by three sons: Roland (Robin) Strickland of Cumberland, Arlin (Diana) Strickland of Chippewa Falls, WI, and D Thomas (Pamela) Strickland of Cottage Grove, MN; son-in-law, Michael De Nucci of Cumberland; daughter-in-law, Judy Strickland of Cumberland; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; sister, Sister Richelle Ranallo of Milwaukee; brother, Bill (Joanne) Ranallo of Cumberland; numerous nieces, nephews, and many other dear family and friends. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, DuWayne Strickland; daughter Kathleen De Nucci; son, Robert Strickland; four sisters: Carol Ranallo, Lillian Perzichilli, Agatha Trotter, and Marian Perzichilli; and three brothers: Emil, Steve, and Fred Ranallo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, December 4, 2021, at St. Anthony Parish Hall with Father Tom Thompson officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Cumberland, WI. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Friday, December 3, 2021, at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland and one hour before the service.
