In Memory of Eric S. Dreczko


February 9, 1950 - October 4, 2023

Eric Dreczko, devoted husband, friend to many, avid animal lover and photographer passed away suddenly on October 4.

He was born in Westerly, RI to Constance and Stanley Dreczko. He left Rhode Island in 1972 and moved to Chicago where shortly afterwards he met the girl who would become his wife – Donna. They married in 1977 and were happily together for over 51 years.

Eric had a long and successful career in Information Technology. He retired from IBM after 25 years with the company. He and Donna retired to Hayward in 2011 looking for a more peaceful life.

Eric enjoyed retirement and gave back through volunteer work as a fixer upper and a computer guy. He took up photography and developed a keen eye for nature at its finest. He loved his flower gardens, the birds he attracted with many feeders as well as the animal parade that marched through his yard. He was active in the community, volunteering his time and talents to many projects, most notably with the Northwoods Humane Society. He was a beloved Cat Daddy to his 4 furballs who loved him more than catnip.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 46 years Donna, as well as numerous family members.

A small memorial service will be held at Hayward Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 with Dr. David McFadden officiating. A time of gathering will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Donations in Eric’s memory can be made to Winged Freedom Raptor Hospital or The Northwoods Humane Society.
