In Memory of Elwood Just


April 3, 1930 - August 3, 2019

Elwood Lewis "Bud" Just, 89,of Cumberland died Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Dove Healthcare. He was born April 3, 1930 in Comstock to August and Madeline (Lewis) Just. Bud was stationed in Germany during the Korean War, then moved to Michigan after his service. He was married in Haugen on November 28, 1953 to Mary "Jean" Subrt. They farmed successfully on various homesteads in Michigan while raising a large family. Bud earned many awards for nutrition and productivity in magazines such as Hoards Dairyman and Successful Farming during this time. They moved back to Cumberland in 1965 and he and Jean bought the family farm in 1971 where they have lived in to the present day.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jean; children: Brent (Debbie) Just, Brenda Just, Glenda Roux, Craig (Hilda) Just, Allison (Scott) Solum, Joy (Doyle) Craine, Shannon Just, and Tracy (Linda) Just; 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Glen (Ruby) Just; sister, Bonnie (Merritt) Lundstrom; nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends. Bud was preceded in death by infant twin sisters; his sister, June Gittings and his parents, August and Madeline (Lewis) Just.

There will be visitation held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cumberland with Pastor John Miels officiating with full military honors to follow.
