In Memory of Ella D. Horobik
Ella Dorthea May Horobik, age 98, of Barron, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Monroe Manor in Barron with family by her side.
She was born June 12, 1924 in Tacoma, WA to Otto and Kathryn (Schmidt) Milso.
On March 5, 1943, she married Edward T Horobik in Tacoma. They called many places home, raised their family in Illinois, ventured back to the northwest as empty nesters, and returned to the Midwest to be closer to family. A few moves and many adventures later they settled in Wisconsin.
After Ed’s passing in 2006, Ella continued to follow family which eventually took her to Texas. There, she enjoyed time with family, friends, and her church. This is also where she took pride in becoming the honorary Grandma to many as a Chick-fil-A greeter. Ella’s final move was to Monroe Manor in Barron.
Being back in Wisconsin meant she was able to watch many of her great-grandchildren’s sporting events, which was really an excuse to make a McDonald’s run. At “the Manor” she enjoyed crafts/activities, Bingo, conversations, family visits, and her wonderful caregivers.
She is survived by daughters, Sherry (Ed) Popiolek of Marble Falls, TX and Debbie Seames of Gig Harbor, WA; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son, Thomas Horobik, and daughter, Terry “Chick” Norman.
Services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
