Elaine Lulu (Holt) Kruger, 87, passed away peacefully at Shell Lake Health Care Center on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.

 Elaine was born on March 28, 1929,  in Earl, WI to parents Ralph and LuLu (Buttenhoff) Holt, the oldest of six children.  She worked at the Spooner Creamery and at Benson’s Mercantile.  She was united in marriage to William L. Kruger Jr. from Springbrook on May 20, 1953, and they had two children.  She worked at the Earl grocery store for her brother Larry and then in Stone Lake at IGA.  For many years she was the township treasurer for Stone Lake.  She then went to work at the Washburn County Courthouse in the Register of Deeds office until her retirement. Elaine was also a member of the Homemakers in the Earl/ Springbrook area.

 Before and after retirement, she enjoyed reading, knitting, and crocheting afghans to put in the fair, but most of all, Elaine loved to ride on boat deliveries with Bill.

 Elaine is survived by sisters Lois (Darrell) Courter of Florida and Linda (Bill) Austin of Rice Lake, daughter Janet (Ken) Mehsikomer, many grandchildren and great grandchildren including Bridget (Travis) Wisner, Eagan and Cyan; Josh (Ashley) Mehsikomer, Mariah, Mickey, Josh, and Payton; Jeremy Mehsikomer, Cassidy, Kennedy, and Will; Jessica Brede, Maddy, and Emery; K.J. (Michelle) Mehsikomer, Ardin, and Lexi; Kasey (Val) Mehsikomer, Caden, Kellon, and Elaina; many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Jean West, and brothers-in-law Ron (Mary Ann) Kruger and Charles (Lorraine Thompson) Kruger, and her pen pal since high school Joan Whitehouse from England.

 She is preceded in death by her parents LuLu and Ralph, brothers Donovan and Larry, sister Norma,  husband Bill, son Jon, niece Mary Anderson, father and mother in law William H. and Nina M (Cunningham) Kruger Sr., sister-in-law Joy Engbretson, and brother-in-law Bob Kruger.

 Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday October 24, 2106 at the Namekagon Congregational United Church of Christ in Earl with Pastor Jack Starr officiating, with interment at the Earl Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Spooner Funeral Home in Spooner.
