In Memory of Edwin K. Malakowsky


September 26, 1957 - December 19, 2022

Edwin Kenneth Malakowsky, 65, of Almena died on December 19, 2022, at his home.

He was born September 26, 1957.

Raised by his parents Gerald “Jerry” and Priscilla “Prissy” Malakowsy in Grand Forks, ND. During his school years, Ed loved to play hockey, guitar, and the harmonica. Ed went on to join the U.S. Army and served for 2 years.

After his service, Ed enjoyed traveling around the country with his buddies and having a good time. He worked in various different fields throughout his life, but mostly held an electrician/maintenance position. He also worked as a Fire Door installer for many years and finally enjoyed his time at Louie's Finer Meats.

During the summers, he was known for his grand fireworks display and celebrations for Independence Day. Also during the summers he spent his time golfing, boating, camping and mostly riding his motorcycle. During his winter months you could have found him either snowmobiling or ice fishing. He always enjoyed the annual ice fishing trip with the guys. But mostly his most precious time was spent with his grandkids and furry companions.

He is survived by sons: Brandon Enget, Chad Enget, Nathan Enget; daughter, Brandy Enget; daughter-in-law, Amy Enget; grandchildren: Morgan, Connor and Jaden Enget; siblings: Jayne, Karen, Liz, Melvena, Paula, Jim, Kenneth, Marvin, and many other family and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his son: Edwin "Eddie" K. Enget; fiance: Marilyn Barker, parents: Gerald “Jerry” and Priscilla “Prissy” Malakowsy, Theadore and Jeanette O’Ven, sister: Georgeann Brinkman, and brothers: Ted O’Ven, and Darren O’Ven.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland with Deacon Steve Linton officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 - 2:30 PM. Military Honors will be held at 3 PM outside of the funeral home after which a luncheon will be served at The Hammer Bar.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the funeral home to help cover the cost of the services.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
