In Memory of Douglas J. Potvin
Douglas John Potvin, 92, of Cumberland died on February 19, 2023, at his home.
He was born July 17, 1930, in Minneapolis, MN to Charles and Mabel (Johnson) Potvin. Douglas graduated from Turtle Lake High School.
He was married in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cumberland on September 9, 1950, to Delores Potvin who preceded him in death on February 16, 2021.
While working at 3M for many years he began his own construction business until the was able to do construction full time. After the construction business he opened D and D Sports and built the laundry mat in Turtle Lake. In his off time, Douglas enjoyed traveling with Delores, golfing, fishing, gardening, and hunting. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
Douglas was deeply loved by his family and his many dear friends. He took great pride in being a grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved being able to take them golfing, fishing, and going on many other adventures. Douglas’ last big adventure was taking a trip to Lake Havasu, AZ.
Douglas is survived by his children: Gloria (Greg) Stokes, Janet Diercks, Darlene (Greg) Buckner, Bryan Potvin, Carla Potvin and Dean (Wendy) Potvin; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Gail (Dennis) Anderson; nieces, nephews and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores, son, Greg; grandson, Chad Stokes; siblings: Donald Potvin, Norman Potvin, Lloyd Potvin, and Betty Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the St. Anthony Catholic Church building fund.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, March 2, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Parish Hall with Father Tom Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM.
