In Memory of Doris E. Gray
Doris Elaine Christiansen Gray, age 91, of Hayward, Wisconsin went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
Doris was born on May 14, 1931, in Seeley, Wisconsin, the daughter of Andrew and Elsie (Blakey) Christiansen.
Doris was raised in Seeley and attended the Blair Grade School and later graduated from Hayward High School. Upon graduation Doris was employed as a telephone operator, a medical assistant and housekeeper. She earned certification from the Red Cross to provide Home Health Care. She was employed an amazing 40 years at the Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.
Doris was joined in marriage to William L. Gray on September 23, 1951. Together they raised four children and spent most of their married life in Seeley, Wisconsin.
Doris enjoyed gardening, loved all animals and spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a caring, big-hearted and loving person always available to help others.
Doris was a lifelong member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Seeley, Wisconsin. Over the years she was involved with many activities of the church. She taught Sunday and Bible School, participated in worship/sing team and the Berean Circle, a women’s Bible study. Doris’ faith and her love of the Lord guided her every day of her life.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, William Gray; parents, Andrew and Elsie Christiansen; three brothers Neil, Ervin and Gary Christiansen; and granddaughter, Shannon Eytcheson. Doris is survived by two daughters, Vicki (William) Thorpe of Whitehall and Terry (Lynn) Fredrick of Ladysmith; two sons, Robert Gray of Seeley, and Jeffrey Gray of Cable; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held for Doris at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17th, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church in Seeley, WI with Pastor Phil Markel officiating. A visitation will be held form 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Interment will be in the Seeley Riverside Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Mark Eytcheson, Aaron Eytcheson, Hunter Eytcheson and Pat Spaay.
