In Memory of Doretta R. Cunningham
Doretta Cunningham, age 89, a resident of Spooner, died on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Spooner Health.
Doretta was born on December 22, 1932, in Tomah, Wisconsin to parents Raymond and Ruth (Heser) Coleman.
At a young age, the family moved to the Spooner area where she graduated high school. After high school, she received her Nursing Certificate and began working at the Spooner Nursing Home and later Care Partners in Spooner. Although she still desired to work, she was steered into retirement in her 70’s. She loved all sports. She was a beloved Packers and Brewers fan, and watching the Olympics. She enjoyed her fishing trips to Canada with her husband Bill. Doretta will also be remembered as a pool and card shark, being an accomplished player of both.
Doretta is survived by her children: Mary (Steve) Johnson, Polly Hart, Marla (Jerry) Cardwell, 26 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and her brother George Coleman.
Doretta is preceded in death by her husbands Robert Hart and Bill Cunningham, son Fred Hart, and sisters Jenella Todd and Shirley Peterson.
A celebration of Doretta’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 11 am, at the Shell Lake Full Gospel Church in Shell Lake with Pastor Emory Johnson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 10-11am, at the Church. Interment will occur at a later date at the Spooner Cemetery.
