Dianne Marie (Berg) Dueholm was born in Frederic, Wisconsin on December 7th, 1945 to Lennard and May (Sorensen) Berg.

She passed away on August 14th, 2021 in Luck, Wisconsin at the United Pioneer Home with family by her side.

Dianne was raised on the family farm with her 4 siblings in Cushing, Wisconsin, where she enjoyed riding horses and loved to sing and perform for her siblings on the hay wagon.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Laketown Lutheran Church where she was an active member until she was married in 1967. She attended the Lanesdale elementary country school in Laketown until going to Luck High School where she graduated in 1964. Dianne became the first member of her family to attend college and graduated from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls in 3 ½ years with a teaching degree in 1968. She taught in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and Columbia Heights, Minnesota until she began raising their family.

Dianne and Bob Dueholm were married on August 12, 1967 at Cushing Lutheran Church. They were married for 54 years. They had three children; Mary, who died shortly after birth in 1970, Eric in 1972 and Peter in 1975. So, Dianne had 2 sons and a husband to raise. Everyone knows what a great job she did with the sons, but after 54 years the verdict on Bob is still out.

Bob always gave Dianne 80% of the credit for raising their sons. At the same time she was managing her store, active in the Bone Lake Lutheran Church and Luck community events, she still found time to be 100% mom to Eric and Pete. She saw they got to all sports practices and games and music, boy scouts and 4H activities.

She hosted 2 birthday parties for the boys each year – one for their friends and one for our extended family. She welcomed the boys to have friends and cousins for sleepovers and her nieces were able to use Dianne’s makeup and clothes and learn how to make ableskiver.

Dianne and Bob lived in Fridley, Minnesota until 1976, when they moved back to Luck to raise their boys and to open The Cardinal Shop. Dianne opened The Cardinal Shop on Luck’s Main Street in 1976. The Cardinal Shop had the largest selection of Scandinavian items in northwest Wisconsin and was a destination for many for 35 years. Bob continued to work at Honeywell in Minneapolis and make the daily commute.

Dianne also became very active in the Luck community. She was the choir director for the Bone Lake Lutheran Church for many years. She helped run the Luck Winter Carnival for several years. She was the chairperson of the Luck Centennial Celebration and the Luck All-Class 75-year reunion – both of which were great successes. She served on the Luck school board for 6 years. And when the Danish ambassador’s office contacted the village to inquire about hosting the prime minister in Luck, they directed the call to Dianne, who – along with Ed Pederson – put together a great visit by the sitting Danish Prime Minister.

Dianne greatly enjoyed travel and the company of friends. But her greatest enjoyment came from the time she spent with family. She was blessed with siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews that she loved. She loved family gatherings, whether holiday events, birthday parties or just for the heck of it.She was overjoyed to welcome a granddaughter, Britta and then 20 months later a grandson, Anders. She loved every second she spent with them, whether at sporting events or singing around her piano or overnights and traveling with them.

In 2011, it became clear that Dianne was having some difficulty. She was diagnosed with dementia. Eventually, dementia greatly affected both her mobility and her ability to communicate. The move into the nursing home was a difficult one. Even with excellent aides helping out at home, the mobility issues became too much. But Dianne accepted the move without any complaint. And for nearly 5 years she got amazing care from the staff at The Pioneer Home. And as bad as the dementia became, we are confident that it never eliminated her ability to feel the presence of her family and friends.

A constant presence in her life was Bob. They were married 54 years and Bob never waivered on his statement that she was always his best friend.

Dianne is preceded in death by her daughter Mary, her parents, Lennard and May Berg, father and mother-in law Harvey and Hazel Dueholm and brother-in-law Will Dueholm.

Dianne is survived by her husband Bob, sons Eric (Amy) and Peter (Sarah), grandchildren Britta and Anders, siblings Donna (Dwight) Swanson, Larry (Lois) Berg, Linda (Dale) Wicklund and Roger (Carol) Berg, brothers-in-law Jim (Pat) Dueholm and Dave Dueholm, sister-in-law Sis Dueholm and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service for Dianne at 11:00am on Friday, September 3rd at Bone Lake Lutheran Church. There will be a visitation beginning at 10:00am. Lunch is to follow the service. The family is requesting that any adult who has chosen to not have been vaccinated not attend. Face coverings will be available. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the United Pioneer Home or the Bone Lake Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home, and the Northwest Wisconsin Cremation Center in Milltown.
