In Memory of Dennis R. Dietz
Dennis Richard Dietz, born December 26, 1945, passed away at his home in Hayward, Wisconsin on June 20, 2023. Of his 77 years, 50 were spent married to one woman, and 30 were spent in productive work for one company. He was a man of commitment and was faithful to his word.
He grew up in Pennsylvania and excelled in his studies at Penn State, receiving his PhD in Physics in 1971. He loved the education field and taught for a number of years in small private institutions, did private tutoring, and never missed an opportunity to teach even in everyday conversations with family, friends and clients. He read widely and was suspected of having a near photographic memory.
He became a well-known resource in the area of ventilation during his years working for American Aldes Ventilation. He invented an apparatus for passively controlling airflow and had it patented. He traveled all over the U.S. as a troubleshooter for air quality problems and had many friends among his clients.
He had a wonderful baritone voice and was also skilled with the trumpet and other horns. He was a dedicated member of the Manatee Community Band in Bradenton, FL for many years.
He most wanted to be known as a follower of Jesus Christ and served in various roles in churches he attended. His faith was especially important to him during his last years living with Lewy Body Dementia.
He loved to tell jokes, especially if they were puns or had to be explained. He was a kind man and much loved and appreciated by his wife Shirley, and his daughters Julia Dietz Shanahan (Kevin) and Esther Dietz Armstrong (Ryan Bruels). He is also survived by family in Pennsylvania, a brother Ron Dietz (Deanna), sister Bernice Snyder and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 1:00 pm, at the Hayward Wesleyan Church with Pastor Ron Smith presiding. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
