In Memory of Delores T. Bjugstad

December 19, 1930 - August 11, 2024

Delores Tony Bjugstad Age 93, of Rice Lake, WI, died Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Vista Prairie Brentwood in Rice Lake where she resided the last five years.

She was born on December 19, 1930 in Rice Lake, WI to Malda Hegna.

Delores worked on her Grandpa’s family farm starting high school three years later and graduated from Cameron High School in 1951 where she was the President of FHA 1950-1951. Her grandfather was really good to her and required her to marry a Norwegian and her future husband met that requirement. She was married to Gerald Bjugstad on September 26, 1953 in Cameron, WI. Delores worked for Ebner’s Box Factory while in high school, Eau Claire Book and Stationary, Abbott’s Dairies, Inc, Barron County Highway Department, Northland FS in Cameron and finished her working career at Barron Veterinary Clinic at almost the age of 70 after 20+ years. She also sold Avon Products for many years when she was a stay-at-home Mom until her three girls all were in school. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother who had a very generous heart. Mom (and Dad) enjoyed going to their grandkids sports and 4-H activities, as well as being their “chauffeur” to confirmation or to anywhere and anytime needed (of course treats were always involved). She was the grandkids, and now great-grandkids, Grandma B, as well as many of their friends called her Grandma B. She loved going to auctions/garage sales, loved antiques, collecting pink depression glass pieces, cooking for the whole family and friends, the coffee pot was always on, going on car rides, and loved socializing and “visiting”. She so loved getting together with her Cameron lady friends every week for breakfast rotating between Crossroads Cafe, The Cameron House, or Brion’s. You would find Mom and Dad with many of the cousins most Saturday mornings at 9 am at the Crossroads Cafe for breakfast. Mom now joined many of them in Heaven and now they are reunited again. Her favorite meal of the day was breakfast, and she so loved her baby blue Chrysler 300. She was a member of Sons of Norway, a 4-H volunteer, and member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Cameron where she was very active in many groups including a Sunday school teacher, Faith Lutheran Church Women’s group, and volunteered counting money for the church with her friends, Kathy and Lavonne.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Sonja Crotteau (Mike Quinn) Pam (Pat) Anderson and Lisa (Steve) Long; 4 grandchildren, Brittany Crotteau, Kyle (Katie) Crotteau, Andrea (Jeremiah) Ganske and Alyssa (Trevor) Wittwer; 7 great grandchildren, Easton Gbeyetin, Kyrie Tyree, Arabelle and Sawyer Ganske, Rhettley, Lenora Delores and Mara Jean Wittwer; brother-in-law, Melvin Bjugstad; 3 sisters-in-law, Phyllis Johnson, and Judy (Terry) Williams and Barbara Dieckmann; Goddaughter, Wendy (Swanson) Lord; Godson, Kenly Johnson; and special cousins, Marlene Arnold and Duane (Carol) Hegna; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Bjugstad; a granddaughter, Amanda Gbeyetin; mother, Malda Hegna; grandparents, John and Tony Hegna; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Axel and Arline Swanson; Norman and Lillian Bjugstad, Richard Johnson and Dorothy Bjugstad; aunts and uncles, Art (Elnor) Hegna, Elmer “Johnny” (Frances “Pete”) Hegna, Dora “Hopsie” (Leonard) Koepp, Clifford “Steve” (Laura) Hegna and Alvin “Judge” Hegna; 3 special cousins, Beverly Norwick, Shirley Wuorenma and Vernon Koepp: Godson, James Bjugstad; Goddaughter, Lou Ann (Lenbom) Taft.

Mom was truly our “Energizer Bunny” and will be greatly missed, but we know she lives on in each of us girls and in her grandchildren/great-grandchildren!

Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church in Cameron, WI, Jane Snowden officiating, with interment in Pine Grove Cemetery in Cameron. Visitation will be held from 1-3 PM Saturday, August 24 at the Church. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.
