Delores Mavis Staples “gizhibaabineslikwe”, age 77, a resident of Danbury, WI passed away on September 10, 2023 at home with her loved ones by her side.

Delores was born on April 26, 1946 in Hayward, WI. to parents Charlie and Sophie (Premo) Taylor.

Delores worked for the St. Croix Tribe for over 50 years.

Delores was part of the joint water committee in Danbury for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed going to the casinos, going to garage sales, blueberry picking, but most of all she loved spending her time with her grandchildren.

Delores is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ward Sr.; brothers, Donald, Gary, Charles, Robert and Lawrence; sisters, Mary (Girl), Carolanne, Judy and Ruth.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Ward (Miranda) Staples Jr. and Jerry (Toni Ostenson) Barber; grandchildren, Katrina, Hunter, Hailey, Kyle; sisters, June and Marge; a very special niece, Brenda Miller; along with other family members and many friends.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 after 7:00 PM at Danbury Tribal Hall in Danbury, WI. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Danbury Tribal Hall in Danbury, WI with Lee Staples officiating. Interment will follow at Danbury Cemetery with pallbearers Scott Lowe, Jordan Lowe, Brad Young, Andrew Staples, Alfred Demarr, DJ Miller. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Thomas, Bill White, Joe Taylor and Brady Lowe.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
