DeAnn Fae Helm, age 72, of Bloomer WI, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire after a courageous battle with cancer.

DeAnn was born on September 10, 1952 in Madison, SD. She was the fourth of five children born to Melvin and Opal (Haufschild), Austad. DeAnn graduated from Oldham High School in 1970. She was an amazing mother to her two daughters: Dawn and Tanya.

DeAnn enjoyed teaching Sunday School at Oldham Lutheran Church and having her own in home daycare for many years. Being around children and their families through her daycare was a true joy, and she treated each child as if they were her own. Later in her working career she did office work and worked at Wilmot Care Center. She cherished and adored time spent with her grandchildren. She was their number one fan and enjoyed cheering them on at all their sporting events and activities they were involved in and made her the proudest grandma in the crowd. She loved rummaging, antiquing, going to the casino with her best friend Dan, and going out to eat with family.

She also held a special soft spot for her furry best friend, Bo, who provided her with warm companionship over the years.

She will be dearly missed by her significant other Dan Jasperson; children Dawn (Michael) Schmidt, and Tanya (Lorne) Majewski; grandchildren Carson and Regan Schmidt, Troy, Bennett and Riley Majewski; siblings Dean (Cheryl) Austad and Darla (Jon) Folsland; brother-in-law Darold Otten, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Debby Otten, brother Gene Austad, sister-in-law Joan Austad, niece Kollete Austad, and her granddaughter Kyra Majewski.

A family service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Osceola, WI on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
