Dean William Chappell Age 76, of Rice Lake, WI, died Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in Marshfield, WI.

He was born on April 9, 1948 in Madison, WI to Dean and Lavonne (Conner) Chappell. Dean graduated from Elkhart High School and then entered the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era and was later Honorably Discharged. He later enlisted into the Army National Guard and served for another 20 years and retired as a Major. Dean was married to Joan Nelson February 18, 1978. He was a safety director for GTE/Verizon Telephone Company for over 32 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Chappell; 3 children, Dean (Kristene) Chappell, Bill (Kristina) Chappell and Amy (Troy) Dyzak; 4 grandchildren, Autumn, Cole, Nolan and Aiden; a brother, Charles Chappell (Kathy); a sister, Linda (Roger) Galbari; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Lavonne Chappell; a sister, Paulette Deer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Haugen, WI, with interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Haugen, with Full Military Rites accorded him by the Rice Lake Veteran Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Tuesday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Wednesday.
