In Memory of Darryl D. Pricco


April 5, 1942 - June 9, 2024

Darryl D. Pricco, age 82, of Hayward, WI passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Aspen Acres Assisted Living in Hayward.

Darryl Dante Pricco was born April 5, 1942, in Campbellsport, WI the son of Dante and Geraldine (Baumhardt) Pricco. He was raised in Bessemer, MI and in his youth was a gifted athlete who played football, basketball, baseball and track. He graduated from Bessemer High School in 1960 and then attended Gogebic Community College and then Michigan State University where in 1964 he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting with academic honors. Darryl began his accounting career with Touche Ross & Company of Chicago. The company offered him a transfer to Los Angeles and he quickly accepted settling into an apartment in Marina Del Rey. Darryl was joined in marriage to Mary Kay Sullivan in 1966, and together were blessed with two daughters. Darryl and his family moved to Denver, CO where he became a partner and Chief Financial Officer for American Sportsman Club. He spent 10 years with the club and served as its president during a portion of that time. Darryl then went to work for Remi Company for 10 years where he served as their CFO. Darryl learned the French language for his role with Remi and their business in West Africa, which he used to help students from other counties to travel to the US and attend college. Darryl’s first wife, passed away in 1980. On May 2, 1986, Darryl was joined in marriage to Beth Aldrich in Estes Park, CO. Together, Darryl and Beth moved to Hayward, WI and their current home on Spring Lake. They purchased and operated Northland Evergreens producing Christmas wreaths and garlands. They operated the business for 10 years and then Darryl began teaching accounting at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Hayward. He would also work during the tax season for H&R Block. They enjoyed winters in Punta Gorda Isles, Florida. Darryl was a modest man who gave much of his time to community organizations, including coaching his daughter’s soccer teams in their youth, Hayward Lions Club where he was Lion of the year in 1988, Spring Lake Association where he was a co-founder and president, Hayward Golf Club, and serving on the board of Northwoods Community Health Clinic, where he served terms as President and Vice President. Darryl was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fly-fishing, deep-sea fishing, lake fishing, downhill skiing and waterskiing, and bird and deer hunting. He also enjoyed doing home renovations, flower gardening, cooking, baking, and taking in good theater, music and wine, and adventure travels.

Darryl is survived by his wife, Beth of 38 years; two daughters, Kellie Ann Pricco of Superior, CO, Amy (Jayson Witt) O’Neil Cecil of Denver, CO; three siblings, Judy (Warren) Niemi of Blissfield, MI, Connie Pricco of Bessemer, MI, Jeff (Bridget) Pricco of Burnsville, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.

A memorial service celebrating Darryl’s life will be held at noon on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Hayward Funeral Home. A time of gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, Hayward Lions Club, Fishing Has No Boundaries and Northwoods Humane Society (NHS).
