Darren W. Lewis, age 57, of Spooner, WI passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Oakview Family Adult Home in Barronett, WI.

Darren William Lewis was born March 26, 1966, in Spooner, WI the son of Derek and Sandra (Paffel) Lewis. While growing up, Darren attended school in Superior, Spooner, Springbrook and Rice Lake. He was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Spooner, WI. Darren was active in the Special Olympics where he participated in bowling, shot put and sprint races. He graduated from Spooner High School. Darren worked at McDonalds in Rice Lake, Ventures Unlimited in several positions and for Shell Lake Woodcrafters. He was proud to work and carry “$20 bucks” that he earned in his wallet. Darren enjoyed riding bike, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, downhill skiing, sledding, camping, blowing leaves off the lawn and watching his favorite shows some of which were I Dream of Jeannie, Gilligan’s Island, Bewitched and Full House. Darren has had a love of music his whole life. Classic Rock N Roll from the 60’s through the 80’s were his favorite and he loved to sing and dance along. He loved his adventures with his brothers, spending time with family and friends, and his weekly phone calls to family and friends. His nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart. Darren never met a stranger because he introduced himself to everyone and was a friend to all. He waved at everyone and made signals to truck drivers passing by so they would honk their big horns at him. He found joy in all the simple things. His famous last words were “call me”.

Darren is survived by his mother, Sandra Lewis of Spooner; father, Derek (Carolyn) Lewis of Columbia Heights, MN; three brothers, Travis (Kelly) Lewis of Iron River, WI; Derek (Linda) Lewis of Hudson, WI, Wesley Lewis of Columbia Heights, MN; nieces and nephews, Kayla, Anthony, Morgan, Danielle, Nathaniel, Michael, Travis, and Jozie; several great nieces and nephews; and many family and friends who love him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, several aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Darren at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Spooner with Father Greg Paffel officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26th, at Spooner Funeral Home and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be at a later time in the Spooner Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Sandra Lewis for memorial tree and bench at the Oak View Adult Family Home, or to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church 409 North Summit Street, Spooner, WI 54801.
