In Memory of Darla J. Heaviland

March 3, 1945 - October 9, 2023

Darla J Heaviland (Apple) of Birchwood, WI passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023 with family by her side. She was 78.

Beautiful wife of James L Heaviland. Loving and devoted mother of Heather Huber, Hillary (Paul) Bishop and Haley (Catie Sampedro) Heaviland. Adoring grandmother (Nonnie) of Cory (Arlene Bjugstad) Huber, Emma Huber, Madeline Bishop and Rowan Bishop. Joyful great-grandmother of Sonny, Axl and Dolly. Dear sister of Seigrid (Trevor) Dixon, Barbra (Paul) Jacobs, Dan (Jean) Apple and Gordon (Susan) Apple. Further survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Darla was a passionate and creative soul. She sang, painted, gardened, knit, cooked, crafted, wrote poems and short stories, collected seashells and rocks, sailed, swam, danced and dreamed, all with carefree abandon. She loved the arts. Ballet, music, theater, movies, museums, galleries or craft shows, she loved it all. Her truest joy was people. She loved to share her home and time with family, friends and those in need. Darla always found something she loved about everyone she met. Darla loved life.

A celebration of life will be held in Milwaukee, WI at a later date.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is serving the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Milwaukee Ballet or Kathy’s House.
