In Memory of Daniel L. Morris

December 28, 1944 - September 1, 2023

Daniel Lee Morris, 79, of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, died on September 1, 2023 of amyloidosis. Dan was surrounded by loving family at home during his final days.

Dan was born December 28, 1944 to Leighton and Dorothy (Beernink) Morris.

Dan married Barbara (Bobbie) Musolf, on August 25, 1967 and they made a home in Barron, Wisconsin. Dan and Bobbie raised three talented and amazing children, Martin, Christopher, and Abberlyn before Bobbie passed away September 25, 1985. Dan later fell in love and married Janice Radwanski April 2, 1988. Janice adopted Dan's daughter Abberlyn and the Morris family grew to include Janice's daughters Shannon and Alexa. Dan earned a bachelor's degree from UW Stout and taught Driver’s Ed and Tech Education which included automotive, welding, carpentry, and woodworking, for 32 years at Barron High School. Many of his former students worked with Dan on projects during his retirement. Dan loved the outdoors and taught many of his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews about hunting and fishing, creating life-long memories with them. Dan had hunting land near Lake Superior where he spent time that he treasured and looked forward to with his sons and nephew, Ron Hasslinger. Dan enjoyed taking his fishing boat, "Reelwife" out on Lake Superior with his children, grandchildren and family. Dan expressed his love for his family and friends with his amazing capacity to help others, being both willing and capable of going to great lengths in difficult situations. Dan was the kind of man one could count on to be there when you needed him. He always had the right tools and extra materials on hand to solve life's practical problems!

Dan is survived by his beloved wife Janice Morris; children Martin Morris (Susan), Christopher Morris (Megan), daughters Abberlyn Morris, Shannon O'Malley (Brad), and Alexa Hawkins; grandchildren Ayja Burg (Sarah), and Aiden Hawkins; Hunter and Gabriella Morris; Braden, Casey, and Finley O'Malley; lifelong friends Bruce and Terry Stumo; nieces and nephews Marilee Morris (Bill Scott), Cheryl Ashenbrenner (Dave), Leighton Morris (Kim), Cathy Hasslinger (Ron), and Bill Morris; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

The family expresses their gratitude to the excellent and compassionate nurses, doctors, and all staff at Luther/Mayo in Eau Claire and Barron, and Marshfield Home Health Care Hospice in Rice Lake that helped Dan navigate twelve years of treatment for amyloidosis.
