In Memory of Craig Greener


October 15, 1947 - May 10, 2019

Craig Gordon Greener, 71, of Cumberland died Friday, May 10, 2019 at Cumberland Healthcare due to complications from exposure to Agent Orange. He was born October 15, 1947 in Ashland, WI to Victor Gordon and Vada (Hanson) Greener. They moved to the family dairy on Hwy G in 1951 and Craig graduated from Cumberland High School in 1965. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1966 and served 2 years, including one tour in Vietnam. He was married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cumberland on September 13, 1969 to Carolyn Lundquist. They ran Sancrai farms until 1993, then Craig became a real estate agent and was partner in Remax Island City until 2012.

Craig's impact on his community was significant. He was a 4-H leader, Barron County board member, school board member and a leader in the Cumberland community. Mostly, he put his family above all. Craig loved his family unconditionally and was so proud of his “girls”. He loved his wife more than anything and they were partners in life. He was also an avid sports fan whether it was playing golf or watching baseball, wrestling, basketball, football and track.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; their girls: Jill (Kevin) Knoke of Hudson, Jana (Jacob) Heinzelmann of Waukesha, Jessica (Matt) Sattler of Canyon, TX; grandchildren: Jack, Ben, Sydney, Trevor, Rudy, Oliver and Simon; sister, Sandra (Glenn) Kolb of Cumberland; foster brother, Gary (Sue) Larson of Rice Lake; other relatives and many friends. Craig was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Alli Jo Heinzelmann.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 13, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor John Miels officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Cumberland. Pallbearers are Kevin Knoke, Jacob Heinzelmann, Matt Sattler, Jack Knoke, Ben Knoke, Sydney Heinzelmann. Honorary pallbearers are Trevor Heinzelmann, Rudy Sattler, Oliver Sattler and Simon Sattler. Military honors were accorded by Anderson-Thomson Post #98 American Legion, Cumberland.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday and for 1 hour prior to the service on Monday, all at the church.
