In Memory of Chester J. Sparish


November 26, 1929 - February 14, 2024

Chester James Sparish, 94, of Cumberland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Woodstone Assisted Living. He was born November 26,1929 in Cumberland, WI to Fred and Christy (Conzone) Sparish.

He was married in Cumberland on May 5, 1956 to Kathleen Zieroth who preceded him in death on August 16, 2022. Together they raised four children who loved their parents dearly.

Chester worked for 3M in Cumberland for 37 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and shuffleboard, watching westerns and football, traveling with his wife, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by children, Louise (Tom) Hinz, Ken (Jackie) Sparish, Diane (Ray) Sparish; grandchildren, Stacy Hinz, TJ (Holly) Hinz, Julie (Paul) Johnson, Shannon (Tommy) Ries, Anne (Ben) Gilbertson, Jake Smithknecht, Anna (Josh) Smithknecht; great-grandchildren, Kristina Johnson, Kiara (Chase) Johnson, Desiree (Mike) Ries, Damen Feiertag, Dylan (Joey) Feiertag, Brody Gilbertson, Jake Gilbertson, Owen Hinz; sister, Louise Jennrich; sisters-in-law, Caroline (George) Rabehl, Bev Zieroth, Evelyn Sparish, Rayola Sparish; and many special nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Chet was preceded in death by loving wife, Kathleen (Zieroth) Sparish; son, Steven Sparish; parents, Fred Sparish and Christy (Conzone) Sparish; parents-in-law, Martin and Elphia Zieroth; siblings, Sal Sparice, Giovanni Sparish, Teresa Sparish, Connie Nicholas, Theresa Marcogleise, John Sparish, Mary Nicholas, Rose Johnston, Joe Sparish, Pat Bramwell, Margaret Johnson, and Mike Sparish; siblings-in-law, Al Nicholas, Nick Marcogleise, Theresa (Hendricks) Sparish, Vendor Nicholas, Bill Johnston, Dick Bramwell, Harvey Johnson, John Jennrich, and Marty Zieroth; and special nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 20 at 11 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Thompson officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Lunch will be served in the church hall following the burial.

Honorary pallbearers are Ben Gilbertson, Paul Johnson, Damen Feiertag, Dylan Feiertag, TJ Hinz and Stacy Hinz.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 19 from 4 PM - 7 PM at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
