In Memory of Charles W. Sandmann


February 3, 1938 - August 13, 2024

Charles “Chuck” Sandmann, age 86, of Barron, passed away on August 13, 2024.

Chuck was born on February 3, 1938 to Wesley and Nora (Klopfleisch) Sandmann. He married Ruth Blair on September 10, 1960. They lived in Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, South Dakota and spent 1 year overseas while serving in the Army in Germany as a medic. While in Germany, he had the privilege of serving as color guard for an overseas presidential visit by President John F. Kennedy.

They moved back to the Barron area where he farmed with his father-in-law for two years. He then worked for Barron Electric for 27 years.

Chuck had a very giving heart and was always willing to lend a hand. He was also a member of several civic organizations. He was generous and always served with a smile.

They were longtime members of the First Baptist Church.

Chuck is survived by two sons, Daren (Beth) Sandmann and Dennis (Nancy) Sandmann; 7 grandchildren, Danessa Sandmann, Blair (Shawn) Meyer, Jacob (Brooke) Sandmann, Timothy Sandmann, Jenna (Dylan) Guse, Matt (Janelle) Shearrow and Andrew (Emma) Shearrow; great-grandchildren, Blake Sandmann, Bailey and Vivienne Sandmann, MurphyJean Meyer, Evelyn Sawyer and Bailey Guse; brothers, Bob and Herbert Sandmann; sister-in-law, Rachel (Joe) Craymer; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; great grandson, Easton Sandmann; sisters Gloria and Vivian and brothers, Virgil and Jake.

A memorial service for Chuck Sandmann will be at held at First Baptist Church in Barron on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Floyde Lunde officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
