Carol Ann Petry, age 79, formerly of Frederic, WI, passed into eternal peace on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Burnett Medical Center in Grantsburg, WI.

Carol was born on January 21, 1943 to parents August and Doris (Heschke) Hempel in St. Paul, MN.

She grew up in the Catholic faith – converting to Missouri Synod Lutheran after marriage. She graduated in 1961 from Mechanic Arts High School in St. Paul, MN. In June of 1964, she married Bernard Petry, and they soon stated a family together welcoming a son, and later a daughter. Carol completed her degree in accounting and computer programming while running her own business.

Carol had several professions when she was younger, but her true passion was working with her hands to craft, crochet, sew, decorate cakes, and scrapbook. She owned and operated her own ceramic and craft shop for many years while she traveled around attending craft shows to share her creations. She was delighted to sew for her children and grandchildren, and to decorate all of the cakes needed to celebrate significant events in her loved ones’ lives. All of the skills she accumulated over the years, and there were many, she taught herself and excelled at.

In 2001, Carol and her husband moved to Wisconsin to fulfill a dream of living on their property in Frederic which was purchased many years prior.

Carol is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard; parents; and a brother.

Carol is survived by her son, Louis Petry of Frederic; her daughter, Jo Ann (Michael) Taylor of Frederic; granddaughter, Brandie (Justin) Anderson of Cumberland; grandson, Alan (Tiffany) Taylor of Grand Rapids, MI; and her great grandchildren, Peyton, Davis, Anthony, and Wyatt; along with other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church in Cumberland, WI (1180 8th Ave, Cumberland, WI 54829) with Pastor Tim Schmidt officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
