Caitlin Erin Walton Age 30, of Rice Lake, WI, died Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in Eau Claire, WI.

She was born on February 27, 1994 in Rice Lake to Stephen and Buffi (Errickson) Mitchell.

Caitlin Erin Walton, wife, mother, daughter, sister, Granddaughter, niece, great niece, cousin, friend and social worker, was born in February 1994. Raised in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, with her mom and dad, Stephen and Buffi and her brothers Connor and Collin, Cait is full of sass and spunkiness. Being the big sister to her brothers brought her great joy. They fought as hard as they loved but goodness did they love. Cait was always late. Her being late did not stop her from graduating with her AA, BA and MSW in social work while being a single parent to Addie, working full-time and ensuring that she was building a bright future for herself and her family. While working on her associates degree, Caitlin met the man of her dreams, Kevin. Their long and winding road led to marriage on June 4, 2022 on the shores of Lake Superior, a favorite place of Cait's. With Caitlin working at Chippewa County Department of Health and Human Services and Kevin with We Adapt, they are building their dream of a lifetime together. Caitlin and Kevin created a beautiful family with Addie and Asher, grafting in Kevin's daughter from a previous relationship, Rylee. The five of them are a loud and boisterous group who demonstrate their love for each other through creative conversation and Friday night family night. Cait's "Kevy" and her children were her life. Caitlin loves her friends deeply just as they love her. From childhood to college, from work to her personal life, Cait is blessed with a tribe who have supported her throughout. Caitlin, the social justice warrior, is a constant advocate for persons living with addiction, substance- abuse challenges, and mental illness. With a heart of gold, Caitlin endeavors to make every life she touches better in whatever way they need. A resourceful social worker Caitlin often took the hardest of tasks and with love and diligence, assisted the person to ensure positive outcomes. Caitlin Erin Mitchell Walton, Mrs. Walton, Kitty-Cat, Kitten and baby girl...our girl - forever - it's not goodbye - this separation is temporary.

Caitlin is survived by her husband, Kevin A. Walton, her children Adalin and Asher Walton and Rylee Foss, her faithful dog Coley, her parents Stephen and Buffi Mitchell, brothers Connor and Collin Mitchell, Grandmother Bonnie Errickson and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from Noon until 3pm at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake with a reception to be held directly after at the United Presbyterian Church directly across from Appleyards from 3-5PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Walton Family.
