In Memory of Braton G. Churchill
Braton “Buzz” G. Churchill, (Babahkididawaayash) age 76, a resident of Webster passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire..
Buzz was born on January 9, 1947 in Cloquet, Minnesota to Albert and Bernice Churchill.
Buzz was a graduate of Pine City High School and went on to the Minneapolis Global Business College. He was known to be a “Jack of all trades” working as a carpenter, did warehouse work at 3M and also worked as a deputy at the Pine County Sheriff’s Department.
He was an avid baseball player, enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and being on the water pontooning, netting and spearing. He also enjoyed traveling and singing with his brothers, the Black Hawk singers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rayna; brothers, Albert, Jr. “Sonny” Daniel and Leonard.
He is survived by his children, Daphne Churchill, Samantha Churchill Belisle and Jacquelyn Churchill; his lifelong companion, Sandy; brother, Clifford “Skip” (Donna) Churchill, sister, Bernida (Howard) Humetewa; his grandchildren, Dayzhan Churchill, Michael Belisle, Jr., Keenan Belisle, Riley Churchill, Coltan Churchill and Nolan Churchill; great grandchildren, Ellla and Brayton Churchill; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 24, 2023 after 6:00 PM at the Hertel Tribal Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Tribal Center. Interment will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner with military honors. Pallbearers will be John Danahue, Jeremiah Churchill, Justin Churchill, Fred Davis, Ryan O’Brien, Rick Bear, Mike Belisle, Sr., and Richard Belisle, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Humetewa, Harry (Waashagiizhic) Davis, Gary Davis, Leroy Nelson, Tom “The Gun” Benjamin, Sr., Jayson Churchill, Burt Wilson and Dave McGrane.
Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
