In Memory of Billie W. Aderman


May 13, 1928 - September 7, 2023

Billie (Marion) Wilma Aderman, 95, of Shell Lake entered her heavenly home on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Shell Lake Health Care Center surrounded by her family. She was born February 13, 1928, in Monroe, WI to Monroe and Ethel (Woodington) Hope. Billie graduated from Cassville Public High School and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She graduated in 1950 as a Registered Nurse from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Madison, WI.

She was married in Cassville, WI on August 25, 1951, to O. Darrell Aderman who preceded her in death on August 27, 2014. After college, they moved to Shell Lake and built a home for their family.

Billie had a heart to serve! She was a part of the Salem Lutheran Church's Growth and Life Committee and the Women of Evangelical Church in America-Mission-Action Committee. In the City of Shell Lake, she served on the Library Board, 10 years on the Plan Commission, was elected to the Hospital Board in 1980, and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary (serving as the Vice President). She served four years on the Chancellor's Advisory Committee for the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, served for 10 years as the Vice-President of Etoile Music Publishing, and was a private piano instructor for 20 years.

Billie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 48 years holding the offices of: organist, Ada, Associate Conductress, Conductress, Associate Matron, Worthy Matron for several terms, Secretary, and in 1984 she served as Grand Esther in the Order of Eastern Star in Wisconsin. She was a member of the Indianhead Community Health Care and was president from 1996-97. She was then the Secretary of Northwestern Partners of Wisconsin Hospital Association from 1998-99. Billie was awarded Wisconsin's Mother of the Year 1984, and Shell Lake Citizen of the Year 1984 with Darrell. She held local, district, and state department chairman positions of the Wisconsin Federation of Women's Club.

In addition to all the aforementioned, Billie was a loving wife and mother and grand mother. Her children felt nurtured and loved. They will miss her humor, her intellect, and her graciousness. She was genuinely grateful for even the smallest of gifts and care. She modeled the best of humanity.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Aderman (Stan) Squires, Rev. Carmala Jean Aderman, and Tamara Hope Aderman (Scott) Smith; son, Dr. Mark Allan Aderman; two grandchildren, Natalie Hope Smith and Abigail Elizabeth Smith; nieces: Joan Neises, and Nancy Maury; and countless other family and friends. Billie was preceded in death by her husband, O. Darrell Aderman; parents; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Shell Lake Arts Center. Burial will be in Shell Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30.
