Betty was born January 18, 1934 to Palmer & Elsie Lockert.

The youngest of 5 children, Betty attended elementary school at Branstad & went to High School in Grantsburg, graduating in 1952. Betty dated Rodney all through high school and they got married at the English Lutheran Church of Grantsburg in 1955. They first lived in Tacoma, Washington where Rodney was stationed for his last 6 months. They moved to Columbia Heights, Mn where Michael & David were born. It was built on the North 40 Pasture, previously owned by Palmer & Elsie Lockert.

They enjoyed traveling with Rods favorite truck & 5th wheel for 17 years. Betty loved family & friends, church, & The Packers, spending time with grandchildren, sporting events, birthday parties, and the lasting friendships made while traveling. She loved all board and card games and playing golf with special friends. She never missed a game of her boys in HS and traveling to watch all Dave & Paul’s UWRF Football Games, they later enjoyed traveling to watch their grand kids play sports, attended birthday parties & holidays with families.

A few years after Rodney’s Death in 2013 she sold the home on St George Ave & resided at Guardian Angels assisted living in Elk River, close to the boys. She was later moved to CCC Burnett General Hospital where she received excellent, loving care by all the staff until her final days.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Palmer & Elsie Lockert; husband, Rodney Hanson; son, Paul Hanson; sisters, Muriel Logeland, Mercedes Ormston, Mavis Mettling; and brother, Bud Lockert.
