Bernard (Bernie) Anthony Miller, age 93, of Osceola, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at his home on January 21, 2022.

Born to John and Bertha Miller on March 14, 1928, Bernie and family relocated from Vermillion, Minnesota to Osceola when he was a young boy.

Sports were ever-present in Bernie’s youth and he found success playing football, basketball and baseball while attending Osceola High School. It was also in high school that Bernie met his future bride and wife of 72 years, Elaine. After exchanging wedding vows on January 15, 1949, the couple would go on to create a legacy of love, companionship, and family.

Bernie took great joy in a life filled with fond experiences and meaningful relationships. As a young man, he spent two summers sailing with the United States Coast Guard out of Duluth. After graduation, he started work for the telephone company, from which he would retire from in 1987. Bernie was involved in several civic and local organizations. He was a volunteer for the Osceola Fire Department for over 40 years and served as Fire Chief for much of that time. Bernie was a decades-long member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of the Catholic Church. In retirement, Bernie and Elaine enjoyed spending many winters in the sunshine across the south. Bernie enjoyed sharing his love of hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking with his children and grandchildren and was a fixture at school and sporting events.

Bernie was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Miller, and their daughter, Bonnie Miller, his parents, John and Bertha Miller, his sister, Elizabeth Nordeen, and his brother, Alfred Miller. He is lovingly survived by sons, David (Lori) Miller, and Michael (Michelle) Miller; daughter, Pat (Larry) Benitz; sister-in-law, Janice Johnson; grandchildren, Lynn (Josh) Miller-Wradislavsky, Andrea (Jeff) Butler, Kristin (Sean) Robbins, Matt Miller, Mark (Rachel) Miller, Ross (Kristen) Benitz, and Chelsea Benitz; great-grandchildren, Claire and William Butler, Lauren and Carter Robbins, James Miller, and Brooks and Reagan Benitz.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his granddaughter, Lynn Miller-Wradislavshy, for coming to live with and care for Bernie as his health declined.

A mass of christian burial will take place at 11:00 on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Osceola, Wisconsin with visitation one hour prior to service. Bernie will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Farmington, Wisconsin following the service.
