In Memory of Arnold J. Peer


November 10, 1932 - June 20, 2022

Arnold “Arnie” Jay Peer, 89, of Cumberland passed away at home June 20, 2022.

He was born to Alonzo and Mary (Richter) Peer on November 10, 1932 in Watertown WI and grew up in the Comstock/McKinley area.

He married his wife Marilyn in 1952 and while on his honeymoon received his draft notice for military service. After serving his nation in the US Army, he returned home and together farmed until their retirement. He enjoyed hunting and as a young man played on several ‘town’ teams as a left-handed pitcher. When his children came along, he served as a 4H leader/softball coach for a number of years. Later in life he served as town chairman for Crystal Lake and then after moving, Johnstown.

He is survived by his children: Christine Wetzel of Cumberland and Randy Peer of Cumberland; son-in-law: Mark Berger of Shell Lake; grandchildren: Alonzo Sturino, Amy Sturino and Rob Berger; great granddaughter: Jazmine Sturino; brother: Stanley (Betty) Peer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Marilyn; daughter: Charlotte Berger; grandson: Paul Sturino; sister: Elaine Papenfuss; brother: Al Peer.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran in McKinley at 11 AM, Monday, June 27, 2022 with Pastor Diane House officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and from 4-7 PM, Sunday, June 26 at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland.

Burial with military honors will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 3PM, Monday June 27, 2022
