In Memory of Armand Luedtke
Armand Gordon Luedtke, age 87, a life-long resident of Grantsburg, WI, passed away on Friday, Nov. 5th, 2021.
He was born at home in Wood River Township on Sept. 26, 1934, the eldest child of Bert and Beatrice Luedtke.
He attended Midway School, first through eighth grades, and graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1953, where he was on the football team and a member of the FFA (Future Farmers of America).
He and Elsie Hoffman, his high school sweetheart, were married at Pine City, Minnesota in October 1955.
Armand’s contributions to the Grantsburg community were numerous, having served on the boards of the Farmers Independent Telephone Company and the Burnett County Dairy Co-op, as well as in various volunteer positions at Grace Baptist Church. In addition to farming, he was once employed at Northern Furniture Mfg., Grantsburg, and as a bus driver for Grantsburg Schools.
Armand’s hobbies included hunting, softball, fishing--and flying! Many local residents recall taking their first airplane rides with Armand in his two-passenger Champion 7EC and, later, his Cessna 170.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie in 2007; and brother, Orland in 2013.
Armand is survived by his three children, Roger (Patty) Luedtke, of Bloomington, MN, Jennifer (David) Hanson, Elk River, MN, and Wayne (fiancee Kim) Luedtke, Grantsburg; former foster daughter, Virginia Hillman; seven grandchildren, Megan (Ian Mercer) and Jenna Luedtke, Jeremy (Becka) Hanson, Joshua Hanson, Mat (Pam) McCormick, Kim (Ron) Feit, and Melissa (Bryan) Thalin; brother, Dean (Karen) Luedtke, Bloomington, MN; sisters, Dianne (Richard) Strom, Grantsburg, and Darlene (Mark) Wicks, Bloomington, MN; as well as 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be at Grace Baptist Church, 716 S. Robert Street, Grantsburg, WI, on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m with Pastor Roger Inouye officiating. A luncheon will be served afterwards in the church fellowship hall.
