In Memory of Ann Martin
Ann Marie Martin, 75, of Lac Courte Oreilles passed away peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital December 31, 2021.
Ann was born April 14, 1946, in Hayward WI.
She was the daughter of Percy and Margaret Martin. She grew up in New Post and attended Hayward schools. She was united in marriage to Joseph F. Lynk in the mid 1960’s and moved to Waukegon, Illinois. In the mid 1970’s, she returned with her family to Lac Courte Oreilles. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She knew what it took to make a house a home. She was passionate about the art that reflected her Ojibwe culture. As a talented artist, she enjoyed teaching the younger generation how to do beadwork, paint, draw and design regalia, all of which she did as a culture instruction aid at the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Elementary school. She also volunteered as a cook at all of the communities’ schools. Every year she spent hours working on beautiful new regalia to wear at the Honor the Earth Pow-Wow. She so enjoyed dancing at the pow-wow, every song, if she could. Five of her granddaughters took titles at Honor the Earth pageants proudly wearing regalia designed and made by gramma. Ann was a devoted football fan with her favorite being the Green Bay Packers. Whenever there was a game on, she would be watching and cheering for her team: Woo-Pah!! She was content with an afternoon spent at the casino. Ann will be remembered as a kind woman that loved her family more than anything.
She is survived by her daughters Susan (David) DeNasha, Diane (Steve) Carlson, Linda Lynk and Erin (Tony) Thayer. Stepson Andy (Rose) Belille. 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
