In Memory of Anders Nelson
Anders “Badger” Christ Nelson, age 84, passed away on June 8, 2021, in Amery, Wisconsin.
Anders married the love of his life, Joy “Melvie” Nicol, on August 1, 1959, at the Polk County Court House.
During his lifetime, he spent much time working; be it welding, fixing furnaces, cutting wood, etc. Upon moving to his home in West Sweden Township, he and Joy milked dairy cattle. They worked together in the fields mowing and baling hay, planting crops, and harvesting. Many evenings, after weeding the garden (BIG garden), the kids would pile into the car – all going to Spirit Lake for a swim.
When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing horseshoes; even going to state championships with a close friend. He also was an avid bowler; sometimes playing on two different leagues in two different towns. Anders and his wife, Joy, enjoyed going to the casinos – sometimes getting up at 3 am – “The Lucky Time.”
If you called him and needed some information about how to fix anything, 99% of the time, he would have an answer. People were very important to Anders. He was never too busy for anyone. He received great joy from helping others. In fact, he spent some of the last years of his life being a full-time caregiver to his adoring wife, Joy.
Anders is preceded in death by his parents Christ and Muriel Nelson; loving wife Joy; sister Jeanie Christensen; sons Ron and Gary Nicol; and granddaughter Kelsey White.
He is survived and sadly missed by his children: Harold “Pellet” (Lori) Nicol, Andy Lee “Mr.” (Cheryl) Nelson, Sheila “Mrs.” Workman, Dawn “Schnout” (Robert) Rambo, Doug “Baggs” (Karrie Van Sickle) Nelson; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life held in the fall.
Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home Webster, Wisconsin.
