Alyce M. Paulson, age 96, of Barron, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Menomonie.

She was born on April 23, 1926 to Adolph and Clara (Tyvoll) Wold in Cumberland and grew up on a farm near Cumberland. She spoke fondly of Finley School and loved attending the Finley school reunions.

She married Stanley Paulson on June 26, 1948 in Cumberland. He passed away in December of 1987.

Mom loved numbers and did the accounting for their businesses including Paulson Construction and the East End Grocery.

She adored the great outdoors and was an avid gardener and spent winters on cross country skis. She had many interests including a love of sewing, quilting, knitting, entertaining, baking, book keeping, reading and travel (although she struggled with map skills).

Alyce was a devoted member of the First Lutheran Church in Barron serving on many committees and assisted with quilt making.

Alyce was loved deeply by all who knew her.

She is survived by children, Carol Paulson of Rice Lake, David (Heidi) Paulson of Germany, Pam (Randy) Carlson of Rice Lake, and Diane (Joe) Simon of St. Paul, MN; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.

Alyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; son, Allen; and 3 brothers and their spouses.

A visitation will take place at the First Lutheran Church in Barron on Monday, January 9th from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. with a service to follow at the church. Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron in the spring.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
