In Memory of Allen Ludke

March 18, 1947 - May 18, 2021

Allen Walter Ludke, age 74 of Almena was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, May 18th at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

Allen was born on March 18th, 1947, to Walter and Arlene (Wohlk) Ludke.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Almena. He grew up on the family farm near Almena and graduated from Turtle Lake High School. Allen worked many years at Jerome Foods (Jennie-O Turkey Store) and later at the St. Croix Casino.

Allen always stayed true to his farming roots and love of the outdoors. He shared a lot of old farmer’s tales and folklore. He was a friend to many and enjoyed the simple things in life, especially rides through the countryside to check out the progress of crops in the field and the changing of the seasons. A trip to the doctor was always an opportunity to stop for French fries and a Coke. He enjoyed pulling up a chair and visiting with anyone who had a few minutes. Whenever he was asked how he was doing, his response was “So far, so good.” He loved attending church and taking part in potluck dinners.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Arlene Ludke, and a sister Judy. He is survived by a nephew and a niece along with many friends and neighbors. Allen was lovingly befriended and cared for by many special families and friends, especially Lowell Wohlk of Almena, the Alfred Hauser family of Almena which shared many meals and bible studies, and the Dave and Pam Fall family of Clayton which included him in many holiday gatherings. A special thank you to Pastor Quinten Buechner for his many visits during the last year.

Funeral services for Allen will be held at Silver Creek Lutheran Church of rural Clayton on Saturday, May 22nd at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour before the service. Interment will be at St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery in Almena.

Funeral arrangements are being provided by Skinner Funeral Home.
