Winter is the perfect time to start a new knitting or crochet project, or to start a journal. Northwind Book & Fiber in downtown Spooner has an inspiring schedule for aspiring crafters:
- Knit Fingerless Gloves—A simple pattern that allows you to incorporate your own design elements. Saturday, January 21st, 1 to 4 p.m.
- Knit an Azel Pullover. Popular design in child’s size 2 to adult. Monday, January 23rd, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
- Crochet a Super Bulky Cowl. Saturday, January 28th, 1 to 4 p.m.
- Creative Journaling—incorporate art into your journal. Saturday, February 4th, 10 to noon.
- Knit a Cabled Hearts Valentine Cowl. Saturday, February 4th, 2 to 4 p.m.
- Knit a Ponytail Hat. Saturday, February 11th, 9:30 a.m. to noon.
- Crochet a Harlequin Beanie—unisex pattern from infant to large adult. Saturday, February 18th, 1 to 4 p.m.
- Knit a Poncho with Lace Inset. Monday, February 20th, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
- All about Knitting Socks. Saturday, March 18th, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Knit the Makes Me Happy Cowl—8 stitch patterns, 3 colors, and beads. Monday, March 20th, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
- Beginning Crochet. Saturday, March 25th, 1 to 4 p.m.
In addition to our long-time teachers—Lisa Mikula and Jennifer Kunselman for knitting, and Carol McDowall for crochet—we have two new instructors. Denise DeGidio, store employee and recent art school graduate, will be teaching her ideas for inspiring your own designs. Karen Turner is an art therapist and will be teaching the Creative Journaling class.
Starting on Febrary 2nd, Lisa Mikula will be leading a drop-in knitting class from 2 to 4 on Thursdays. PhD Knitting Thursdays (Projects half Done). Stop in to learn to knit, get help with that half done project, or learn something new.
